The Israeli army announced on Tuesday that it detected rocket fire from Syrian territory, some of which reached Israel and fell in an open area. The army did not provide details. There were no reports of damage or casualties.
The Israeli army also said it struck Syrian army positions in response to that rocket fire, using artillery and mortar shells.
Meanwhile, I24 News TV reported preliminary information about mortar shells fired from Syria landing in open areas in northern Israel.
The Health Ministry in Gaza said on Tuesday that the number of Palestinian fatalities from Israeli airstrikes, artillery and naval fire has risen to 900, in addition to 4,600 injured.
The Health Ministry in the territory said the dead include 260 children and 230 women.
The ministry revealed that the Israeli attacks have caused the “annihilation” of 22 Palestinian families and displaced more than 140,000 people.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army announced its control over the outskirts of Gaza as it continued to pound the besieged territory, with the death toll exceeding 3,000 on both sides, including soldiers and Hamas fighters, 4 days after the group’s attack on settlements surrounding Gaza.
